My mother is a micellar water monger. At the speed she asks me for a new bottle, I suspect that she drinks this elixir. She is quite a hygiene freak, her makeup is usually very light, and sometimes she only wears sunscreen. Therefore, my DIY Makeup Remover for Waterproof Makeup recipe has too much of a cleaning power for her. On the other hand, this micellar water recipe is perfect for her double cleanse routine or as a quick wipe solution, which doesn’t strip off moisture.
In this milder recipe, I use PEG-6 Caprylic/Capric Triglycerides, which is what you can find in Bioderma Micellar Water’s ingredients list. I’ve switched out propylene glycol to its corn-derived counterpart propanediol. I’ve also added my all time favorite ingredient niacinamide, and my new-found love allantoin. I love niacinamide’s repairing properties and allantoin’s soothing and regenerating benefits. Though I like to keep my facial cleansing and make-up removing products simple, I do find the motion of wiping micellar water with cotton pads or cleansing cloths can have added benefits with these two active ingredients.
Hence the claim 5-in-1 - it removes makeup, cleanses, hydrates, tones and repairs. I enjoy using it to double cleanse after my DIY Smooth Cleansing Makeup Remover Oil, and to clean the root of my lashes with a cotton swab after removing my makeup. I find this step crucial for the health and hygiene of my eyes, especially for makeup lovers like me.
