自製藍銅胜肽保濕抗老精華液 | DIY Copper Peptide GHK-Cu Serum

This serum is an upgrade from my Niacinamide Antioxidant Serum. I’ve been wanting to try skincare products with copper peptide for years, but even The Ordinary’s "Buffet" + Copper Peptides 1% is on the more expensive side compared to its other products. The ingredient itself, GHK-Cu copper peptide is not cheap, but I decided to splurge during my last ingredient haul. I bought a GHK-Cu copper peptide solution instead of powder (much like hyaluronic acid powder vs solution, which has been diluted into a water solution), since the powder is still quite expensive to acquire and less convenient to measure for making a final homemade product of small batch size.

To ensure my mystical solution works well, I’ve only used other active ingredients that have hydrating or repairing qualities - no Vitamin C, AHA or BHA. Since copper peptide promote collagen and elastin production, I figure hydration is just as important for it to work well - like fertilizers I suppose. I’ve used both hyaluronic acid and γ-PGA, as well as collagen and niacinamide. I mix my powders with propanediol and glycerin into a slurry before I add water. I then whip it with my handheld milk frother into a clear serum before I add the copper peptide solution. I choose not to be stingy with my blue elixir and add two heap teaspoons into my serum.

This serum not only works wonders, but is also gorgeous to look at. I love the clear pale blue. It’s like the unicorn of serums - gorgeous, kind, healing and magical. I use only water and no hydrasol or any extracts in this recipe, as some hydrasol or extracts have a range of faint yellow hue to brownish color, which can affect the blue color of the serum. I wouldn’t know if it’d also decrease the effectiveness of the copper peptide, but I’d rather not take the risk for some smell. There’s no strong scent from the ingredients used anyway, so I don’t mind.

Supple and hydrated skin texture comes naturally with this serum which are not really worth mentioning at this point. After my first use, my skin feels “awaken” - not tight but somehow less puffy. I got a pimple during my testing period (damn Covid-19 stress), which has been really rare for me. I zapped it like a barbarian with no remorse, leaving blood then a dark spot after the extraction. From experience, it’s healed a lot faster than usual. My zapped pimples usually take 3~5 days to heal (from red with peely skin to a dark spot), but this one healed completely within 2 days. This kind of dark spot usually take over a month to fade away on me, and is taking even longer as I age. This time it’s only taken around 3 weeks. I’ve also refrained myself from performing microneedling during this period which helps with lightening dark spots and scarring, to ensure that copper peptide is the only magic at work here. I’m excited to use it in the long term.

With the ingredient costs I purchase in Taiwan, This recipe is approximately 2~3 times more expensive to whip up than my other serum recipes. The ingredients for approximately 90ml of serum are still less than USD$10 in total. It’s totally worth it and a bargain if you ask me.

Please feel free to drop me a comment in English, Mandarin, or even French. I would love to hear from you!
